넷플릭스 오리지널 시리즈가 골든 글로브 시상식을 장악했다.
지난 3일(현지 시간) TV와 영화 분야에서 최고의 아티스트를 선정하는 제 78회 골든 글로브 어워드 후보가 발표됐다.
'맹크'는 6개의 후보에 올랐고 '더 크라운' 또한 TV 부문에서 6개의 후보에 올랐다. '맹크'(감독 데이비드 핀처)는 영화 '시민 케인'의 각본가 허먼 J. 맹키위츠의 실화를 다룬 전기 영화로 감독 본인의 아버지 잭 핀처가 사망하기 전 집필한 각본을 토대로 흑백영화로 제작됐다. 디프 포커스의 활용과 극적인 페이드 효과로 국내외 매체들에게 연출에 대한 극찬을 받은 바 있다.
드라마 '더 크라운'(감독 스티븐 돌드리, 피터 모건)은 넷플릭스에서 2016년 11월부터 방영 중인 전기 드라마로 영국의 여왕 엘리자베스 2세의 생애를 다룬 작품으로 호평을 받았다.
2021년 골든 글로브의 후보 선정에 대해 논란이 일어난 부분도 있었다. 영화 ‘미나리’가 미국인 감독이 제작한 영화임에도 골든 글로브 시상식에서 작품상이 아닌 외국어 영화상 후보에 올랐기 때문이다. '미나리'가 선댄스 영화제를 비롯해 전 세계의 다양한 영화제에서 각종 상들을 휩쓸고 있는 분위기에서 이러한 결정이 내려진 것에 대해 국내외 매체들은 안타깝다는 반응을 쏟아내고 있다.
2021년 골든 글로브 시상식 후보에 대한 환호와 논란이 공존하는 가운데, 어떠한 작품이 최종 수상의 영광을 거머쥘지 귀추가 주목된다.
한편, 2021년 골든 글로브 시상식은 오는 2월 28일(현지 시각) NBC를 통해 방영될 예정이다. (KBS미디어 정지은)
